Slate Run RK Ladd
(Shatona Karzan x Ashabella)
Foaled 1982
Bred by the late Dwight Plymale of Slate Run Farm in Ohio, Ladd is by the Tio Lalo son Shatona Karzan (who was out of Twinkle Star, an L.U. Sheep Ranch mare) and out of Ashabella, a daughter of the well-known stallion Ashley Deboyd (out of Cherry Belle, a mare of old Midwest and old Vermont lines).
Ladd is rich in the bloodlines of Sellman, Hill, and Brunk with crosses to Sonfield, Querido, Powerful, Linspar, Congo, Mallow, Jubilee King, Romanesque and Flyhawk. He is a golden example of the heirloom qualities for which his ancestors are best known: brains, athleticism, versatility, disposition, and heart.
A working cow-horse most of his life, Ladd has answered the call for whatever has been required of him. Whether working in a feedlot moving cattle or carrying the flag in a parade, Ladd has done it with style and grace. Since we brought him back home in the summer of 2003, we have been enjoying pleasure riding him on the trail and at home.
He is a kind, easy-going stallion who is a pleasure on the ground and under saddle. He stands 14.3 hands barefoot and is absolutely correct with exceptional feet and legs and a lovely way of moving. He produces smart, easy to train, athletic foals that are a joy to work with and to own.
Ladd is available AI through Candlewood Equine in Brookfield, Connecticut. His stud fee for 2005 is $750.00 LFG.
